Job Club (Tullamore & Birr)

You may be entering the world of work for the first time; you may have many years of work experience under your belt; you may be one of thousands of people that have been made redundant or lost their job in the economic downturn; you may want to change career direction, or you may simply be looking for a better job - all are reasons that prompt people to look at the labour market for job opportunities.

In the current climate, finding the right job can be a challenging, exciting or even a daunting process. Finding a job is a job in itself, and should be approached with a sense of challenge and responsibility. There are many ways jobs are advertised, and knowing where to look and what to expect is important. So if you are looking for a job, the job club will assist you by getting a fuller understanding of the process.

The Job Club has a range of resources available to you that are designed to assist you in making sound, informed decisions about your career.

Formal Training

 

The Job Club programme consists of four weeks formal training, daily from 10.00am – 1.00pm which covers the following areas:

• Information on entitlements

• How to develop key skills required for the current labour market

• Expert assistance and advice on employment, training and up skilling opportunities

• Practical supports such as CV preparation and design

• Interview techniques and preparation

• Computer familiarisation

• Telephone skills

• Letters of Application

•  Application Forms

• Advert Analysis

• Assertiveness/Confidence building

• Career guidance and mentoring

• Aptitude Test

One to One Consultation

• Support and advice in job seeking skills and sourcing jobs.

• A Resource Centre that provides facilities to assist you in finding work, including:  

• Computers / Internet Access , Stationary

• Photocopying Facilities.   CV Preparation etc.
