About Citizens Information

The Citizens Information Board is the statutory body which supports the provision of information, advice and advocacy on a broad range of public and social services. It provides the Citizens Information website, www.citizensinformation.ie, and supports the voluntary network of Citizens Information Centres and the Citizens Information Phone Service 0761 07 4000. It also funds and supports the Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) 0761 07 2000 and the National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities.

Citizensinformation.ie provides comprehensive information on public services and on the entitlements of citizens in Ireland. We gather information from various government departments and agencies, and make sure that you have all the information you need, presented in an easy-to-understand way.

The site has been specially designed around the needs of users for those times in life when you need information about your rights and how to apply for State services in Ireland.

Citizensinformation.ie was developed, and is maintained by the Citizens Information Board (formerly Comhairle) to replace the Oasis website. Citizensinformation.ie website is an Irish eGovernment initiative, and was originally established under the Government's first action plan for the Information Society. The Citizens Information Board also provides a website on mortgage and rent arrears in conjunction with the Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) called keepingyourhome.ie and a website aimed at jobseekers and people who want to start a business called gettingbacktowork.ie.

The Citizens Information Board also runs a website that provides information on assistive technology, aids and appliances for people with disabilities and older people. This website is called assistireland.ie.

Arden View Community & Family Resource Centre

The Family Resource Centre National Forum (FRCNF) is a support network working with the Family Resource Centres throughout Ireland. The aim of the Forum is to represent the views of all FRCs nationally and to provide practical support to FRCs in their work on family support and social inclusion initiatives.

As a representative body, the FRCNF provides networking and training opportunities, information and support for its members. It has a voluntary Board structure comprised of two representatives from each of the eight regions involved in the FRC programme. FRCNF Board members are a mixture of voluntary members of the Boards of Management of local FRCs and employees of FRCs.The aim of the Family Resource Centre programme is to combat disadvantage and improve the functioning of the family unit. The programme emphasises involving local communities in tackling the problems they face, and creating successful partnerships between voluntary and statutory agencies at community level. FRCs involve people from marginalised groups and areas of disadvantage at all levels, including on their Voluntary Management Committees.

Key services provided by FRCs include:
The provision of family support, information and advice at local level.
Practical assistance to community groups (such as training, information, advice and use of shared facilities).
Education courses and training opportunities.

SOSAD (Save Our Sons And Daughters) is an organisation with five main goals:

  • Raise awareness of suicide in Ireland.

  • Break the taboo surrounding suicide.

  • Provide support and direction to those feeling suicidal

  • Provide support and direction to those approached by someone feeling suicidal

  • Provide support and direction for those bereaved by suicide.

SOSAD Ireland is a charity whose mission is to help reduce the numbers of suicides in Ireland, through awareness campaigns, helping those at risk and those already bereaved.

It is now estimated that there may have been around 700 suicides in Ireland last year and it is the leading cause of death for males under 34. Research indicates that more than 3 out of every four people in Ireland know someone who has died by suicide but in many areas all of us know at least one person who has died this way. SOSAD Ireland provide a range of supports to anyone who may be affected or concerned about suicide. This includes suicide interventions, psychological assessments and free counselling to anyone who needs it. We also have trained and experienced volunteers ready to help and advise anyone bereaved by suicide. So please feel free to contact us to see how we can help you. There is help out there.

Here we hope to share with you as much news and info as we can on anything related to our service, & what people do for us. Please feel free to contact us and share our news.
