Being one of the largest regional towns in Ireland affords Tullamore of being able to support a wealth of hobby and interest groups. Here is a list of such groups and how to conatct them.

Active Retirement Association (Tullamore) (T.A.R.A.)
To help older people to enjoy their mature years by providing regular programme of activities such as holidays, outings and socials, creative and learning opportunities, indoor and outdoor exercise and sports. Membership is open to men and women who are over 55 years of age. Meet each Wednesday afternoon in the Foresters Hall, Tullamore. Membership offered.

Astronomical Society
Typically meets on the first Tuesday of the month, holding informal public lectures in Sstronomy and similar subjects. Produces its own magazine Réalta, and owns 3 telescopes. Members drawn in from all over the Midlands. Membership offered. Meets in the Presbyterian Hall or Church, High Street, Tullamore.

Beekeepers Association
Learn about beekeeping and honeymaking from local keepers. Also, did you know that locally produced honey, when taken regularly, is one of the best natural methods of protecting you from hayfever?

Big Brother Big Sister Programme
BBBS is a mentoring programme. An adult volunteer (18+) becomes a Big Brother or Sister to a young person (10-18). They spend 1-2 hours a week together doing activites they enjoy.

Esperanto Group
Esperanto is the international language which was launched in 1887 on the initiative of Dr. L.L. Zamenhof of Bialystok and Warsaw. It has since developed considerably and Esperanto speakers are now found in almost every country in the world. You can get in touch with the Tullamore center for more information.

Gramophone Society
Meet every second Thursday in the Tullamore Court Hotel from September to April, where members or guests present a recital of recorded music. They also host music appreciation courses and live concerts.

Historical Society
The Offaly Historical and Archaeological Society was founded in 1969. Located at Bury Quay on the canal. Gives public lectures, holds historical documents, and also a shop. Membership offered.

Maori Poi Society
A circus skill often seen in the form of fire twirling, Tullamore Maori Poi teaches the flag version. Meet in the Presbyterian Hall, High Street, Tullamore. Get in touch to find out when.

Musical Society
Musical and dramatic society. Host at least 1 big play each year with an all-star local cast. Membership offered.

"For young people, by young people". Incorporates Junior Club and Senior Club with (supervised) events from sports to learning to art and drama.

Scouts (Tullamore)
Caters for boys and girls aged 6 to 20. Meetings held at the Scout Den in Sragh, Tullamore. Scouting activities include camping, orienteering, cooking outdoors, canoeing, tracking, hillwalking and indoor activities also. Enrolment takes place in the Autumn.
